This workshop covers Title 49, Part 382 of the code of Federal Regulations. Part 382 deals
with the requirements of mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

People who are required to have a commercial driver's license and their supervisors.

Engineering for Safety
Workshop Description
This workshop is intended to increase awareness of the need for improved safety in road
design, construction, and maintenance. It covers safety issues from urban, suburban, and
rural roadway vehicle and pedestrian/bicyclist conflicts.
Who Should Attend
City and county personnel responsible for roadway design, construction, and maintenance.

Winter Survival
Workshop Description
This workshop shows you how to prepare mentally and physically if you become stranded in a
life-threatening winter storm. You learn what attitude and equipment is needed to survive
the cold. You also find out how to recognize symptoms of hypothermia and how to treat
them.
Who Should Attend
Anyone who is exposed to Nevada's severe winter weather, especially snowplow operators and
other transportation workers who are at risk of becoming trapped in bad weather or who may
need to offer emergency treatment to stranded motorists.

Work Place Safety Program
Workshop Description
This workshop covers the requirements for a work place safety program. The various
components of OSHA's Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDA) are discussed, including the
physical and chemical properties of hazardous substances, potential health risks, and MSDS
terminology.
Who Should Attend
Road, highway, and public works supervisors and anyone else responsible for work place
safety guidelines.

Work Zone Safety and Traffic Control
Workshop Description
This workshop covers the proper use of traffic control devices to improve worker and
motorist safety during road maintenance operations. You are taught how to use specific
types of traffic control devices and how to plan, set up, and maintain a work zone.
Who Should Attend
Maintenance supervisors and engineers, and members of maintenance and construction crews,
as well as anyone else involved in work zone traffic control, such as employees of
utilities.
