Soil Sampling and Testing
Workshop Description
This workshop offers an introduction to sampling and testing soil as it relates
to public works construction. Sampling and testing methods include:
grain-size-distribution, Atterberg limits, specific gravity, laboratory compactions, and
soil classification.
Who Should Attend
Soil testing laboratory technicians involved with public works construction
and field inspectors who need an understanding of laboratory soils testing performed in
support of public works construction.
Instructor

Techniques for Pavement Rehabilitation
Workshop Description
This course provides detailed information concerning the quality standards for
pavement rehabilitation. It includes the concepts that assist pavement engineers in
developing the most reliable and cost effective rehabilitation alternatives for existing
flexible and rigid pavements. It addresses the problem of rehabilitation for both pavement
types in a logical sequence: existing pavement structural evaluation and condition
assessment distress mechanisms, needs assessment, assignment of feasible alternatives from
four categories of reconstruction, restoration, recycling and resurfacing (4R), selection
of preferred alternatives, overall design and construction.
Who Should Attend
This course is intended for state and local highway engineers in design,
construction, and maintenance who are involved in the application of pavement
rehabilitation techniques.
Instructors
Mr. Stephen Seeds serves as a Program Director for Applied Pavement
Technology and manager for the Reno office.
Mr. David Peshkin is V.P. and Principal of Applied Pavement Technology.
