Making Local Roads Safer
|

|
|
After her grandson was hit by a car in a crosswalk, a
Nevada grandmother began a grassroots coalition to improve pedestrian safety in the town
of Gardnerville. Seven months later, her efforts, in combination with those of the Nevada
T2 Center, brought about a Walkable Communities Workshop. The results of that workshop
included improvements to 15 crosswalks and realignment of a dangerous intersection.
Here is LTAP in action. Communities throughout the United States are struggling to
improve pedestrian safety. The chances of such grassroots success increase greatly because
T2 centers can tailor their resources to fit the need. Centers can provide the workshops
and technical assistance that might otherwise be too expensive for towns like
Gardnerville. |
| Mission |
| The mission of the T2 Center is to provide training and
technical assistance to transportation personnel to help them build and maintain better,
safer, and more cost-effective transportation facilities. Successfully meeting these
objectives involves proven solutions and innovative approaches |
